NOTE
I think Alexr. was recorded as a Cousin to Alexander Ledingham at 75 Chapel St., Old Machar, Aberdeen in the 1871 census.
A Note from the research of Kerr Inkson:-"
The only other Inkson notable I have come across in my research is Alexander McConnachie, who was born Alexander McConnachie Inkson but apparently changed his name during his life to take his mother's surname rather than his fathers.... Alexander practised as an accountant in Aberdeen, Glasgow and eventually London, but is better known for his work on the outdoors. He became a great rambler, climber and explorer of the North East, both wild life and folk tales, and in 1890 published the book 'Bennachie', about the famous Aberdeenshire hills at the foot of which his own ancestors toiled as labourers and crofters in the second half of the 19th century. The book ran to several editions. Alexander also was a founder member of the Cairngorm club and wrote many other books on the mountains and forests of Scotland."
Extracts from 'Donside' can be found at
The McHardy Family of Corryhoul Website.
"As the car hurries out of the glen, I fancy I hear the words of that tireless
Deeside traveller Alex Inkson McConnachie:
"Farewell, then, ye mountains in mystery piled,
Where the birth-place and home of the tempest is found;
Farewell ye red torrents, all foaming and wild,
Farewell to your dreamy and desolate sound...."
