Alfred was recorded with his mother & step-father at Wood Lane, Stalbridge, Dorset (1871) & I couldn't find him at all in the 1881 census. The family later moved to Wales & is recorded at Edmund St., Home Penrhys, Glamorgan (1891). Alfred's birthplace is recorded as 'not known'.

The 1901 census records the family at 75 Llewellyn St., Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales.
