NOTE

John, a Crofter/Farmer was born c 1825 at Auchterless, Aberdeen. His parents were James Duncan & Ann Elder. John's marriage cert. suggests he never married before but he had 2 illigitimate children: Ann Duncan (1862) & Mary Duncan (1869). John died aged 25 yrs.

The family was living at Gawnsmoss Farm, Banff. Banff. in the 1881 census. Also present were John's 2 daus. Ann & Mary Duncan.

The 1891 & 1901 census' record the family living at the same place.
