Before Barbara was married she had 2 illigitimate children; James Duncan, 1859, King Edward & Ann Donald, 1862, King Edward.

She lived with her parents at Burn Of Cake, King Edward, Aberdeen in the 1871 census with her children & later at Millseat, King Edward, Aberdeen in 1881. James wasn't present.

Barbara & James were living at the same place in 1891 with sons, Robert & Alexander. Also present was Grandson, William Smith, 1888, Gamrie.

The 1901 census records the family at Portsoy Tarsnpike Linksfield, Banff. Also presents was Grandsons, William Smith & James S. Duncan.
