A Gravestone Reads: "Erected by CHARLES & ANN DUNCAN in memory of their dau. GRACE d. Lonmay 29 Dec. 1877 aged 21 & of her children GRACE CHAPMAN d. Lonmay 25 Dec. 1877 aged 14 mths., JAMES DUNCAN CHAPMAN d. there 1 Jan. 1878 aged 3. The above were the wife & children of CHARLES CHAPMAN & the children are interred in the churchyard of Rathen. And of their son JAMES d. Hong Kong, China 25 Oct. 1875 aged 26 - he is interred there in the Happy Valley. Their dau. MARGARET d. 2 July 1866 aged 6 wks. Above CHARLES DUNCAN d. Backhill 28 May 1894 aged 72; ANN DUNCAN his wife d. Faddenhill 5 Jan. 1912 aged 86.

The family was living at Lethenty, Fyvie, Aberdeen in the 1851 & 61 census', although it records his birth as Fyvie. The 1871 census records the family living at Lady Bog, Fyvie, Aberdeen.

The 1881 census records the family living at Windy Hill, Fyvie, Aberdeen & later at Backhill Fetterletter, Fyvie, Aberdeen in 1891. Also present was Grandaughter, Jessie Ann Falconer, 1887, Fyvie, Aberdeen.
