Edwin died before 1917 & Ruth was obviously well off as she applied for a passport in Jan. 1923 & went on a trip to Spain, Italy, Greece, Palestine, Egypt, France & England in Feb. 1923.

Looks like Ruth returned from her trip on the 'Empress of Britain' via Southampton & arrived at the Port of St John, New Brunswick, Canada 20 Apr 1923 according to this passenger list.

Ruth, a Clerk, was born c 1881 at New Haven, Connecticut & died in 1967. Her parents were George Franklin Smith & Harriett Barnet. See this interesting 'Families of Early Milford, Connecticut' here.

Edwin is recorded as a lodger at Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut in the 1910 census. Ruth, now a widow, is living as a lodger at Washington, Washington, District of Columbia in 1920 & later living alone in the same area in 1930.
