James, a Schoolmaster/Merchant, was born c 1814 at Cullen, Banff. & died in 1872. His parents were John Nicolson & Margt. Nicolson. Alexander died aged 4 yrs, May aged 18 & Jessie aged 9.

The family were living at Gardenstown, Gamrie, Banff. in the 1841, 51 & 61 census'. Elizabeth & James were living at 53 Seatown, Gamrie, Banff. with dau., Elizabeth & son, John in 1871.
