The family lived at Guggleton St., Stalbridge, Dorset in 1861. Also present was a 'wifes-daughter' Esther M. Harris, 12, Stalbridge. Interestingly they lived a few doors away from Elias & Matilda Duffett. By 1871 the family were still living at the same address, although Samuel's birthplace is recorded as 'Marnhull, Dorset'. Interestingly a few doors away was some other relatives of Samuels, Thomas & Sarah Jeans.

"There is no Esther Harris in the Sturminster births for the correct period on freeBMB or familysearch, and certainly none in the St Mary's records that I have. FreeBMD does however show a Hester Mary of about the right date, but it may not be Stalbridge. (It's worth mentioning here something that has always puzzled me. There are/were two chapels in Stalbridge in addition to the church. Henry is Henry Hinks. Don't know whether that was a previous marriage, or the result of a passionate casual encounter.... No record of Henry's baptism that I could find on familysearch that would indicate whether he was base or the result of a marriage. And searches for the marriage on freeBMD (1837 or later) showed nothing likely." (by Dave Harris)

"I looked for them all at SB and as you said they were not there. I had to look though. I couldn't read Elizabeths place of birth. I had all the experts at the library consult. They sent a handwrighting wizard from another floor. No one could make it out. It ended in Ford and started with a B. I looked in the Par Reg for Bathford, Blackford and Brushford. No Liz. Then I thought to look at the 1871 census to see where that said she came from.It clearly said Bayford. It turns out that Bayford is a part of the Parish of Stoke Trister near Wincanton. I looked at the BT of the Par Reg for Stoke Trister. The year 1821 was one the Bishop skipped. I did not find Esther or any of the other children there. There were no marriages. Any suggestions? I looked in the 1841 census for Stoke Trister I don't think a Harris ever set foot in the place. Sorry." (By Lynda Lawrence)
