NOTE
George was born c 1809 at Stalbridge, Dorset to Robert Curtis & Rhoda Brown. He was Builder & Master Mason & died in 1885. Their second dau. Jane died aged 12 yrs in 1844. The family lived at Ring, Stalbridge, Dorset (1851-61).
The 1871 census records Thomas & Hannah (at the same address) with 3 children, Samuel, William & Albert & in 1881 the census (at The Ring) records Hannah as 'an invalid' & also present was Sarah (Jane) with her 2 sons.
George Curtis, bachelor and Hannah Duffett,spinster both of this parish were married in this church by Banns. This twenty second day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty and by me, F. L. Luke, curate. This marriage was solemnized between us: George Curtis; and the X of Hannah Duffett. In the presence of George Pike and unreadable.
WILL: George Curtis of Stalbridge in County of Dorset Mason, I
hereby appoint my son Samuel Curtis of Stalbridge Dorset and
Thomas Lemon of Henstridge Somerset my executors and
administrators of this my will. To my son George Curtis I give
and bequeath one hundred and fifty pounds and one house and
garden situated in Henstridge Somerset and now in the
occupation of James Scott. To my son Samuel Curtis I give and
bequeath one hundred and fifty pounds and one house and garden
situated in Henstridge Somerset and now in the occupation of
Charles Seard. To my son William Curtis I give and bequeath one
hundred and fifty pounds and one house and garden situated in
Henstridge Somerset and now in the occupation of Samuel Biss.
To my son Albert Curtis I give and bequeath one hundred and
twenty five pounds and one house and garden situated in
Henstridge Somerset and now in the occupation of George Stacey.
To my daughter Elizabeth Bath the wife of Stephen Bath I give
and bequeath fifty pounds for her own use and benefit
absolutely. To my daughter Harriet White the wife of Edward
White I give and bequeath one hundred pounds for her own use
and benefit absolutely. To my daughter Fanny Seard wife of
Charles Seard I give and bequeath one hundred pounds for her
own use and benefit absolutely. To my daughter Eliza Herridge
the wife of William Herridge I give and bequeath one hundred
pounds for her own use and benefit absolutely. To my daughter
Martha Bown wife of James Bown I give and bequeath one hundred
pounds for her own use and benefit absolutely. To my daughter
Jane Webber wife of Albert Webber I give and bequeath one
hundred pounds for her own use and benefit absolutely and to my
son Samuel Curtis I give my clock and all the residue of
household furniture. I give my daughter Jane Webber and after
all my just debts and my funeral expenses are paid I will that
all the residue of my estate of what ever and where ever and of
what nature and quality soever shall be held and be possessed
by my executors or the surviving of them and he they shall
receive all rents and profits and all money arising therefrom
and once in every year he or they shall divide the same equal
shares between my sons and daughters herein named in this last
will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this
sixteenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and eighty

George Curtis in the presence of us present at the same time
who in his presence and in the presence of each other attest
and subscribe our names as witnesses hereto Thomas Lemon, Henry
Batten. On the 4 th day of February 1886 Probate of this will
was granted at Blandford to Samuel Curtis and Thomas Lemon, the
executors.
