NOTE

George, a Farmer, was born c 1830 at Ord, Banff. & died in 1905. His parents were William Copeland & Helen Gordon. He was previously married to Elizabeth Sim & had a son, James Copeland.

The family was living at Myreside, Marnoch, Banff. in the 1871 census. Also present was his son, James from a previous marriage & Isabella's Grandfather, James Findlater. The 1881 census records the family living at the same place. Also present was George's son, James & also visitor, James Findlater, 1806, Monquhitter, Aberdeen. I've no idea who he was ?

The 1891 census records the family living at Elrick, Marnoch, Banff. Isabella & George are living at the same place in 1901 with children, Jane, John & Isabella.

A gravestone reads: "Erected by GEORGE COPELAND Myreside in memory of his wife ELIZABETH SIM d. 26 Sept. 1866 aged 30. His son ALEXANDER d. 17 Mar. 1884 aged 23 mths."

A gravestone reads: "In loving memory of GEORGE COPELAND farmer d. Elrick 18 Feb. 1905 aged 75. ISABELLA FINDLATER wife of above d. Craigiebrae 8 Apr. 1917 aged 72. Base: Erected by his wife & family."
