NOTE
Also SEE her
death cert. Her death cert. records her as 'illigitimate'. This whole family doesn't quite add up. It appears she first married George Grant 3.7.1828 either at Cromdale or Kirkmichael & had 3 children: James, Margaret & Jane (SEE details below). All this is confirmed by the IGI & her gravestone which also records those children buried their too. (SEE Gravestone link above). It doesn't add up because Elizabeth & Charles' bap. records her as 'Inkson' rather than 'Grant' as she was previously married ??? & who is the Isabella Brown below from the 1851 census & why wasn't Jane recorded as a 'step-daughter' ???
I can't find anyone in the 1841 census.
The 1851 census records George & Isabella living at E Duthil, Moray. Also present was dau. Isabella Brown ??? born c 1831 at Kirkmichael, Banff. Dau. Jane Brown born c 1838 at Woldsasand, Banff. Son, Charles, born c 1843 at Cromdale, Inverness & a Grandaughter, Jessie Burges, born c 1847 at Invermon, Banff.
Jessie is recorded as a servant at 56 & 57 High Street, Charlestown, Banff. in the 1861 census.
George & Isabella are recorded living at Two Sco Left By Onisbathe, Cromdale, Inverallan and Advie in the 1861 census. Also present was their dau. Betsy & Grandaughter, Isabella McDonald.
The 1871 census records Isabella & George living at 3 Northside East End, Cromdale and Advie, Moray. Also present was Grandaughter, 'Bella McGregor'. She appears to have been recorded twice as she's also living with her mother & step father at Dellifure School, Cromdale and Advie, Moray ???
Isabella liv. at Tenement No.3 No End, Cromdale, Elgin (1881) as a widow, born in Cromdale, with daus. Margaret, unmarried, aged 47 & 'Margaret' Jane, aged 7 (I have no idea who this is.) It couldn't have been Isabella's dau. as she would have given birth to her aged 71. It may have been the base dau. of Margaret.
James (1832-1911), Margaret (1834-1919) & Jane (1835-1856) all were buried with their mother at Inverallen Cem., Elgin, Moray.
