Selina was born c 1869 at Cran Moor, Yorkshire. Her parents were Thomas & Ellen Gledhill.

The family were living at Wold's End (?), Yeadon, Yorkshire in the 1891 census & later at 38 Mortimer St., Consett, Durham in 1901. The family also spent sometime in Scotland in the early 1890's.
