Margt. was born c 1839 at Rothiemay, Banff. & died in 1919. Laura marr. George Troup.

A gravestone reads: "In loving memory of my dear father JAMES ANDREW d. Kinnairdy Castle 9 Dec. 1918 aged 81; my dear mother MARGARET SMITH d. 21 Feb 1919 aged 80. Their only dau. LAURA JANE wife of GEORGE TROUP d. 2 Mar. 1951 aged 78; said GEORGE TROUP d. 4 May 1956 aged 65."

James & Margaret were living at Chapletown, Marnoch, Banff. in the 1871, 81 & 91 census' & later at Kinnairdy Castle, Marnoch, Banff. in 1901.

James inherited either Chapelton ownership or the tenancy. He was very prosperous because he eventually purchased Kinairdy Castle, mill & mains from the Inns family. He only had one child, Laura, who inherited and lost the property due to her husband's trouble with drink. Laura had no children. The Innes family got the property back.
