The 1861 census records James & Katherine at 60 South St., Fordyce -Banffshire. His occupation is recorded as 'Teacher Am Kings Coll & University Old Aberdeen'. In 1871 their address is recorded simply as 60, Fordyce -Banffshire, although probably South Street. Also present was Niece, Barbara Largue.

The 1881 census records them living at the same place.

Katherine, now a widow, is recorded living at Seafield, Logie, Perthshire in the 1891 census. Also present was a vistor, William Allardes. In 1901 she is recorded at 15 Gladstone Place, Stirling, Stirlingshire.

A Gravestone Reads: " Erected by ISABEL ALLARDES spouse to JOHN ROSE in Mains of Towie in memory of her parents WILLIAM ALLARDES late in Boynsmill d. 11 Nov. 1748 aged 45; and JEAN STEWART his spouse d. 23 Aug. 1782 aged 69; said ISABEL ALLARDES d. 11 Apr. 1787 aged 39; Also in memory of THEODORE ALLARDES d. Craighead of Turtury 22 June 1843 aged 57; his spouse ELSPET DUNCAN d. Turtury Cottage 22 Jan. 1870 aged 67; their dau. CHRISTINA d. Aberchirder 16 July 1895 aged 67."
