NOTE

Alexander, a Veterinary Surgeon, was born c 1838 at Rothiemay, Banff. & died in 1900. He was a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Their son George was born illigitimate & was brought up by Janes father.

The family was living at Midstreet, Rothiemay, Banff. in the 1871 census, although George was recorded with his Grandfather at Cairnhill, Marnoch, Banff.

The 1881 census records the family living at the same address & later at Shiel Cottage, Inverkeithny, Banff. in 1891.

A gravestone reads: " Erected in memory of ALEXANDER STEWART, M.R.C.V.S., husband of JANE INNES d. Sheil Cottage, Inverkeithny 22 Mar. 1900 aged 61; their family:- PETER GRANT HAY d. 4 Apr. 1891 aged 16; ALEXANDER accidentally drowned, Aberdeen 26 Dec. 1908 aged 39; WILLIAM INNES 1st Canadians, killed in action at Passchendaele, France 6/7 Nov. 1917 aged 36; above JANE INNES d. Leith 18 Jan. 1922 aged 79; son JAMES ALEXANDER d. Canada 2 Mar. 1953 aged 80. (In front of above) P.G.H. STEWART aged 16."
