James, a Wright/Carpenter (Master)/Crofter, was born c 1804 at King Edward, Aberdeen. Jane died in infancy. May have had another dau., Bathia who also died in infancy.

The family was living at Mill Tithery, King Edward, Aberdeen in the 1841 census & later at Mill of Fishrie, King Edward, Aberdeen in 1851.

The 1861 census records James & Jane living at the same place with dau., Barbara & son, Alexr. Also present was Grandson, James Reid, 1859.

James & James were living at Burn Of Cake, King Edward, Aberdeen in 1871 with dau., Barbara & 3 Grandaughters; Ann Donald, 1862, Elspet Jane Hay, 1865 & Helen Duncan, 1868. Grandson, James Reid was also present.

Jane, now a widow, is recorded at Burn Of Cake Croft Ho, King Edward, Aberdeen in 1881 with dau., Jane & 3 Grandchildren; Charles Gill, Ruth Gill & Helen Duncan.
