Funeral services for Evelyn V. Cossentine, 80, of Eagle Bend, formerly of Goodland, Kansas, were held on Friday, November 7, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Bend with Reverend Gary Taylor officiating. Evelyn passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2003 in Clarissa.
Evelyn was born on February 6, 1923k to James Henry Calkins and Dorothy Alma McCorkle in Wray, Colorado.
She was united in marriage to Leonard A. Cossentine in Reno, Nevada in 1943.
Evelyn was a housewife and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, the Degree of Honor and the Canasta Club and was a member of the community for 59 years.
She enjoyed painting, playing cards, gardening and traveling. Also see this

Evelyn was preceded in death by one son, David Cossentine; parents, James Henry and Dorothy Alma Calkins; one brother, James Claude Dale Calkins; and one sister, Dorothy Faye Calkins.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard Cossentine; three sons, Leonard A. Cossentine Jr., Samuel J. (Faye) Cossentine and Roger D. Cossentine all of Eagle Bend; daughter-in-law, Mary Cossentine; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Calkins of Belleville, Kansas; two sisters, Goldie Fowler of Cortez, Colorado and Genevieve Sponsel of Blairberg, Iowa; and expecting two great-grandchildren in February (the month of her birthday.
Pallbearers were Nathan J. Cossentine, Anthony Q. Donovan, Richard M. Gross, Steve Pearson, Michael Willie and Dan Roach.
Interment was held at the GAR Veteran's Cemetery in Eagle Bend, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held for Leonard A. Cossentine Sr., 86, of Eagle Bend, Minnesota on Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. He passed away on Thursday, November 4 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Leonard was born on March 31, 1918 to William A. and Rosa Lena (Kohler) Cossentine in the village of Eagle Bend.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Calkins on December 14, 1943 in Reno, Nevada.
He served in the United States Army from January 6, 1942 to December 24, 1945 in the Medical Corps.
Leonard was a lifetime resident of Eagle Bend. He was the city water and sewer superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking.
He was a member of the Eagle Bend Fire Department (he was the chief for 20 years) and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Cossentine on November 7, 2003; parents, William and Rose Cossentine; a son, David Cossentine in August of 2003; a brother, Harry Cossentine; and sisters, Clarice Grabowski, Emma Murphy, Marion Evans and Ivy Cossentine.
He is survived by his sons, Leonard A. Cossentine Jr., Samuel J. (Faye) Cossentine and Roger D. Cossentine, all of Eagle Bend; a brother, Fred Cossentine of Eagle Bend; three grandchildren, Nathan J. (Shelly) Cossentine of Roseau, Heather J. (Anthony) Donovan of Princeton and Hilary J. (Richard) Gross of Roseau; and five great-great-grandchildren, Devin Cossentine, Hailey and Sydney Donovan and Ayla and Autumn Gross.
Pallbearers were Nathan J. Cossentine, Anthony Q. Donovan, Richard M. Gross, Cody Hess, Michael Willie and Raymond Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers were Duane Peterson, Donald Jackson, Calvin Wolf, Al Woida, Kenneth Nelson, Carl Wehking and Gordon Moller.
Military honors were provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6318 and the American Legion Post 280, both of Eagle Bend.
Interment was at the G.A.R. Veterans Cemetery in Eagle Bend.
