NOTE

William (b. 1823), a Farm Labourer from Stalbridge, Dorset. S. of Thomas Brown. He died before 1901. He was also previously married. The 1861 census of Gold St., Stalbridge, Dorset records 2 children: Eliza, 1851, Stalbridge & Thomas, 1854, Stalbridge.

The 1871 census records the family (including the above Thomas) at Wood Lane, Stalbridge, Dorset. Interestingly just a few doors away from Mary Ann Harris & her 'step-son' Clement Duffett. The family also lived here in 1881.

The family was still living at Wood Lane in 1891. Both William's were General Labourers. Mary was a widow in 1901 (Wood Lane) & being 'Kept by Parish'. Her son William was also there. Unmarried.

Burial records would suggest (DUFFETT, Mary, 1835, za, 05 Oct 1835, 4M, Stalbridge, 17 May 1835, B3677, RE08/0586) that Mary died but she is recorded on the 1851 census & of course married.
