Carlotta (17.9.1866 - 29.3.1955), of New York, New York, USA. Dau. of Albert Buhner & Pauline Tyson. Must have travelled to Kingston, Jamaica at some point as this San Francisco Passenger List shows. Other Passenger Lists show that he also made 2 further trips to & from Papeete, Tahiti in 1926 & 1929. The latter with his family.

Samuel applied for several passports while in American. The first here on the 25 Jan 1896 which eventually would be destroyed in the great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 & the second, page 1 & 2, on 7 May 1921.

Doctor Hunkin was born in Cornwall, England, in 1864. English schools gave him the foundation of his educational equipment. He was a youth of nineteen when he came to America in 1883. He lived in San Francisco from that time. He entered the University of California School of Medicine and in 1890 was awarded the M. D. degree. From that time until his death, on October 11, 1930, he was engaged in practice, and his skill and resourcefulness brought him a high place as a specialist. He was one of the few outstanding bone specialists in the United States. Doctor Hunkin acted as orthopedic surgeon to the Children's Hospital and was chief of the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of California. Doctor Hunkin was well known socially, being a member of the Olympic Club, the Union Club of San Francisco, the Commonwealth Club and the Lakeside Golf Club. One of the enthusiasms of his later years was the game of golf. Doctor Hunkin married in 1893 Lotta T. Buhner. They were married in San Francisco. Mrs. Hunkin survives him and resides at 35 San Lorenzo Way. There are two daughters: Meva, who is married to Frank J. Mecredy, a native of Dublin, they have no children: and Lota, wife of Joseph Mora Moss. Mr. and Mrs. Moss have two children, Joseph Mora Moss and Allen Moss. (California and Californians: Volume 4)
