NOTE

Mary (b. 1870-1952), of Delaware (or Maryland), USA. Emmigrated to California, USA sometime after 1901. Worked as a Painter & at some stage for the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Company at Webster, Alameda, California (according to his World War I Draft Registration Card). Stephen was divorced from his wife & living as a Lodger at Oakland, Alameda, California in the 1920 census. It also recorded 'Nat. through parents'. The 1930 census records him living alone at Oakland City, Alameda. Interestingly it records his father's birthplace as 'pennsylvania'.

Mary & the 3 children were living at Pacific Grove, Monterey, California in 1920 & by 1930 just Mary & Charlotte were present living at the same address. Mary was a Proof Reader at a Printing Office & Charlotte a Book Keeper.
