NOTE
John, a Sorjourner/Mariner/Merchant Service, was born c 1800 at St. Austell, Cornwall & died in 1861. He re-married after Susanna's death to her Cousin,
Ann Annear, although this is not confirmed.
"
John Rowter married Susanna Hunkin 23/Jan/1826, they had 3 children, John, James and Susan, only Susan lived to old age. Susanna Rowter (nee Hunkin) died 21/Sep/1834. John Rowter then married Ann Annear 22/Jun/1835 and they 2 children, Mary Ann and Nicholas William. Mary died as an infant and Nicholas William went on to become a Capt in the merchant navy, he was lost at sea in 1877 on the "British King". The whole family (now Rutter) was in Liverpool by 1852. My cousin is at the Liverpool maritime museum at this moment getting his history.
This is the contentious statement, I believe Ann Annear was actually Ann Hunkin (Susannah's cousin). Ann married Richard Annear another mariner, I don't yet have evidence when Richard died which freed Ann to marry John Rowter. However in the Mevagissey 1841 census it shows the Router family living with William Hunkin who I believe is Ann's father.
You mention in the page above you don't have data for the 1871 census, here it is, John Rowter dies shortly after the 1861 census in 1861, I have not found out what happened to Ann yet, Capt Nicholas William Rutter is at sea so his wife and inlaws plus children are now living in W.Derby Liverpool." (Mark Rutter)
The family was living at Shaws Alley (?), Liverpool, Lancashire in the 1851 census. The 1861 census records John & Ann living at Lower Harrington St., Toxteth Park, Lancashire. Also present was son, Nicholas & dau. Susan (Jago) & her son, William.
