Caroline was born c 1856 at Aldingham, Suffolk. Her parents were Charles & Lydia English. Joseph died aged 4 yrs.

Later, the family are recorded at 202 Clapham Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1901. Caroline's mother is again present. William's sister, Mary Jane (Breach) & her family were living next door.
