Excert from 'Northern Scot' 4.3.1933. DEATH OF FORMER ROTHES PROVOST. "Mr William Inkson's Work For The Town. - It is with deep regret that we record the death of ex-provost William McConnachie Inkson, which occurred at his residence, Greenbrae, Rothes on Tuesday afternoon.
Eighty years of age, Mr Inkson was born at Orton, and after working for some time as a shoemaker he took to farm service. Later he became a flesher and gamedealer, and carried on a succesful business in Rothes until his retirement several years ago.
Mr Inkson took a deep interest in all public work, being a member of Rothes Town Council for many years. He was appointed to the old Parochial Board in 1883, and continued as a member of the Parish Council until the Poor Law administration came under control of the County Council in 1930. He was also a Justice of the Peace for the county of Moray.
An earnest religious worker, he was a member of the congregation of the Elgin Baptist Church, and took a prominent part in evangelistic work in the town. He did much in the interests of temperance, and for many years he organised the Christmas treat for the poor children of Rothes.
Although the direct cause of his death was an attack of influenza, Mr Inkson never really recovered from the effects of a cycling accident which he had four years ago.
Mr Inkson, who was twice married, is survived by four daughters, one by his first wife and three by his second. Three are married while Edith, the youngest, was for many years connected with Rothes Post Office, and was in later years a faithful nurse to her father."
