The family were living at Tooele, Utah Territory in the 1850 census. Infact, he is recorded twice, same place, but with different occupations. Farmer & Stone Cutter.

The 1861 census records the family living at Great Salt Lake City Ward 19, Great Salt Lake, Utah Territory. Also present is Wilson's second wife, Ellen. Polygamy was being practiced and preached at this time to help 'further the Lords work'.

Ellen (born c 1837 at Sjelland, Prestoe, Denmark (?) & died in 1902) is recorded living at Pine Valley, Washington, Utah Territory in 1871 with her first four children. Wilson & Eliza were living at St George, Washington, Utah Territory with children, William, Brigham, Mary & Eliza.
